  Chairman

 Bruce Dungey is a Chartered Accountant with over 40 years professional  experience, providing assurance, taxation and business  advisory  services to a  very broad range of middle market enterprises in  a  variety  of industries, notably entrepreneurial growth companies,  international  private companies and High Net Worth Family Offices.

Bruce held a number of leadership roles with two ‘top 4’ global accounting firms and now as a retired Partner, he is actively involved in a range of private company advisory boards and directorships. In recent years, Bruce acted as the CEO of Almond Orchards Australia Limited, which  was formerly the Responsible Entity for Almond Orchards Australia Robinvale 2000 Almond Project.

 

Julie Bird 
Director

Julie Bird has a broad background in the Australian horticultural industry, spanning various roles over the past 20 years.

Julie has a Bachelor of Teaching degree a Master of Business Administration (Executive) and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Julie manages 1DAY Pty Ltd, a management consultancy servicing the agribusiness sector and Say It With Flowers a retail floristry business. 

Julie has wide experience working in all aspects of primary production, including a role with Quality Fruit Marketing, marketing stone fruit to domestic and international markets. Previously Julie was CEO of the Almond Board of Australia, Director of the Australian Nut Industry Council, Independent Chair of the South Australian Apiary Industry Advisory Group Executive for Pollination Australia and was Independent Chair of the Apple and Pear Industry Advisory Committee.


Ewan MacDonald
Director

Ewan MacDonald has held a range of commercial and legal positions in the financial services industry since 1988.

As a lawyer, his specialisations include managed funds, investment platforms, AFS licensing, financial services regulation, investment management and custody. He is currently Special Counsel at Herbert Smith Freehills in Sydney.

He is an active compliance committee member and until recently was Chair of UAL’s compliance committee. He has held compliance committee positions across a range of sectors including structured products, quantative strategies, fixed interest, domestic and global equities, hedge funds, direct property, mortgages and agriculture.



Compliance Committee

The Compliance Committee is required to meet on a regular basis to assess the adequacy of the Compliance Plans and report any breaches to the UAL Board after reviewing detailed documentation provided by the UAL management team.  The Committee Members are highly qualified and have extensive experience in the financial services industry.  The members are as follows:

Steven O’Connell (Chairman)

Steven O'Connell is a CPA and has over 30 years extensive finance industry experience in life insurance, asset management, custodial services, financial planning and superannuation (consulting, administration and trustee services).  He has headed the compliance and risk management functions for several large multi-national asset managers.

Steven had held company secretary roles for a number of asset managers, headed custodial operations for corporate actions, reconciliations and unlisted trust management and was a key person in the eventual sale of Mellon Australia’s superannuation and administration consulting businesses in 2005.  He is an experienced director of asset management and finance companies and currently holds roles in Compliance Committees and as Responsible Manager for several leading asset management firms.

Henry (Sandy) Gilbert, FCA (External Member)

Henry (Sandy) Gilbert practices as a Chartered Accountant and Auditor and has over 40 years experience in the accounting industry. He is currently a consultant to Rundles Chartered Accountants.
